My child hates maths – what do I do?

We understand - truly! All four of Karen's children disliked maths. Sometimes this dislike is because they do not understand maths and 'feel dumb'. We rarely enjoy what we do not understand. Work hard to find a skill they can develop in maths so that they can see their progress. Our 2-minute Maths PDF Book (available in our Resource Shop) can be helpful for this as students can see their progress and gain confidence. Sometimes students don't see the usefulness of maths.

Using living books such as the Sir Cumference series or Life of Fred can help them to make these connections. All About Numbers can also be useful for disconnected maths students to see the purpose of maths in the real world. We have deliberately integrated real-life maths activities into our Core Programs to help reluctant students re-engage with maths.
