What is a Lapbook?

When Simply Homeschool refers to a Lapbook we are mainly talking about an A4 Visual Arts Diary. You can use one book for all subjects together and it can be purchased from Officeworks, K-Mart and Art Supplies shops. We recommend premium paper and double spiral bound for durability and viewing pleasure for many years to come.

Canson Visual Art Diaries make ideal Lapbooks because they are slightly bigger than A4 (meaning A4 pages can be stuck in with no cropping), a storage pocket at the back and a strong cover. School Club offers Simply Homeschool Members a discount - to receive this please register and sign up as Teacher and refer Simply Homeschool as the company.

Lapbooks are excellent for Record Keeping as they show progress in each subject. Many lessons include Lapbooking activities. You will see the Lapbook tag in any lesson where we suggest you use it.

It is not just something for the State Authorised Person, however – a Lapbook is similar to a holiday photo album. When you travel on a holiday, you stop to take photos of things that you want to remember, things that are beautiful, things you enjoyed. You collect keepsakes, brochures, postcards, magnets, etc.

In a similar way, a Lapbook is your visual journal; memories of your Homeschool Journey, the places you have been, the activities you've shared, the things you've learned together. Create a journal your child will love to look back on for many years to come.
