Create poems and reports together. Have fun, enjoy the process - Animalia
Assist your child to access complex content by reading aloud with them.
Write with your child – offer to write for them whenever they are focused on another skill (such as crafting content into excellent sentences).
Write for them as they create their keyword outline aloud - let them focus on creating the content - while you look after the spelling and handwriting. Talk punctuation and grammar - if they don’t tell you to add it - don’t, then read it without the punctuation!
Create paragraphs together. Model this process and scaffold it for them. Guide them through building a paragraph over a series of lessons – A is for Australia or Children Just Like Me
Write what they say then read it aloud to them. Let them hear that it doesn’t sound right - eg. They say, “he, um, he, well, he went into this round thing, and it was, it was sort of round, like a tunnel thing…” When you read it back to them, they can hear it doesn’t sound like written literature.
Help them edit until it reads the way they want it to read.
