Creative Writing Classes
Dive into the world of creative writing with best-selling author, Ed Wright! In these mini classes, your child will use fun and creative writing prompts to expand their imaginations, build their writing skills and grow in confidence.
Our mini classes run for four lessons. These classes allow your child to experience the fun of online lessons without having to commit to a full term of classes.

Class: Junior Creative Writing: Machines
Recommended Age: 8-12 yrs
Teacher: Dr. Ed Wright (Ph.D in Literature)
Class Length: 4 weeks (15 Oct, 22 Oct, 29 Oct, 5 Nov)
Time: Tuesday 11:00-12:00 AEST (classes will be recorded)
Cost: (Simply Homeschool members) $48 (Non-members) $60
Class Description:
Students will explore the relationship between humans and machines through fun creative writing prompts that expand the imagination. Students will also explore writing text types including narratives, persuasive, diaries and letters.
Class: Teens Creative Writing: Speculative Fiction
Recommended Age: 13+
Teacher: Dr. Ed Wright (Ph.D in Literature)
Class Length: 4 weeks (12 Nov, 19 Nov, 26 Nov, 3 Dec)
Time: Tuesday 11:00am-12:00pm AEST (classes will be recorded)

Class Description:
What is Speculative Fiction? It’s the fiction of ‘what if?’ What if we had a time machine? What if we had faster than light travel? Speculative fiction can be a way of playing with ideas and their implementation, or of providing reflection on our world as it is.
In this course students will work on using speculative questions to build worlds and then create characters to inhabit their predicaments. Students will learn world building, plotting, character formation and genre conventions.
